The History

Krump — short for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise — was created in South Central Los Angeles around 2000–2001 by Ceasare "Tight Eyez" Willis and Jo'Artis "Big Mijo" Ratti. It grew out of "clowning", the colourful party dance created by Tommy the Clown in the 1990s, but stripped away the costume and turned the energy up.

In neighbourhoods marked by gang violence, Krump was designed as a release: a way to pour anger, grief and joy into movement instead of conflict. Dancers gather in sessions and labs, form a circle, and take turns in the centre — a format the world saw in the 2005 documentary Rize.

It is not about anger for its own sake. It is about passion, control and honesty in movement — stomps, chest pops, jabs and arm swings, all driven by the "buck", the grounded bounce that runs through the whole body.

The MOBS Way

It is not about anger, but about passion and energy. We teach how to channel power into controlled, artistic movement.
